Job Summary
Responsibilities include answering the switchboard and pagers overhead, greets and directs people to the appropriate departments. The PBX operator monitors the hospital alarms and must be aware of the policy and procedures of all hospital emergency codes. Ability to communicate with population served from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescence young adults and middle adults and middle adults to geriatrics.

- Knowledge of phone list for all department extensions and transfers all calls to appropriate departments. Knowledge of phone list for all department manager’s pager numbers, alpha numeric computer paging system, and pages timely and accordingly.
- Uses the appropriate vocabulary when conversing with the patients, physicians or other department personnel.
- Demonstrates good judgement in arranging for vendors, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies to be escorted into hospital.
Regulatory Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) desired.
Language Skills
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Strong written and verbal skills.

- Basic computer knowledge.
